PA State Tax Credit Program

OPERATION RESTORE

Studies have shown that each EITC scholarship saves the state over $12,000 in public education costs.  If all 44,000 students receiving EITC scholarships would re-enter the public school system, it would cost Pennsylvania taxpayers an additional $531.6 million per year.

A reduction of an additional $10 million on top of last year's $15 million will put a strain on both public and private schools.  Please contact your PA State Representative and Senator today and let them know that EITC funding should be restored to $75 million in this year's budget.  For a simple way to show your support please visit www.OperationRestorePA.org.

Some businesses in Pennsylvania can give to Veritas Academy, and it will not cost them a dime.

Qualifying businesses can direct a portion of their state taxes to Veritas Academy through the Educational Improvement Tax Credit program. Businesses can commit one or two years. If businesses commit to giving for two years, the tax credit is virtually 100%, so the only difference for your business is that you can give to Veritas Academy instead of giving to the Commonwealth of
Pennsylvania. Here are some frequently asked questions:

What businesses qualify for Pennsylvania’s Educational Improvement Tax Credit? Almost all businesses now qualify for Educational Improvement Tax Credits. Sole proprietorships are the only business structure that still cannot participate.

Must I be an owner to consider the Educational Improvement Tax Credit?   No. If you are an employee or valued customer of a particular business who might qualify, you can speak to the Development Director, Rob Spykstra, at Veritas Academy. He will work with you to determine how to best inform the business of this unique opportunity.

How interested are businesses with this plan?   They are enthusiastic. We are giving the company an opportunity to control and direct the use of their taxes. They can support an excellent educational institution in Veritas Academy and do it without a cost to them.

What are the steps for Veritas Academy to receive the tax credits? The steps are very simple. The business fills out a one page application. Imagine that, a one page application for a state tax program, but it really is that simple. The application is submitted to the Department of Community and Economic Development (DCED). Once the DCED approves the application they will inform the business of their approval. The business has 60 days to forward their contribution to the Classical School Fund of Pennsylvania. Once the Fund receives the contribution they send the business a confirmation of receipt. The Classical School Fund of PA holds the money on behalf of Veritas Academy. The Academy then directs parents to the Classical School Fund of PA if they are in need of scholarship money.

If I want to investigate more about the Educational Improvement Tax Credit where should I go?   You should go to the Classical School Fund of Pennsylvania website, www.classicalschoolfundofpa.org.  This website provides the DCED website which has an even more thorough description of the program.  Or better, if you want learn more about this great program please call Rob Spykstra at 717-556-0690 or email him at rspykstra@VeritasAcademy.com
