A good preschool is about far more than just learning letters and numbers. At Veritas Preschool, we believe in nurturing the whole child - mind, body, and spirit - through engaging, hands-on learning experiences that not only exceptionally prepare your child academically for Kindergarten, but also help them grow in their relationships and their appreciation of the beauty and wonder of God and the world around them.
Veritas Preschool integrates a thematic concept into all academic areas while incorporating a wide variety of active learning experiences. Music, reading, arts and crafts, gross-motor physical activity, sensory playtime, and more are all incorporated into our daily curriculum!
We've all been missing one another during the 2020 COVID-19 shutdown, but it hasn't stopped our children from learning together with our teachers from their homes! Our curriculum and activities have continued virtually, with Bible lessons, story times, crafts, circle time and more happening via Zoom and our Private Facebook Virtual Classroom!
Each classroom’s instruction is unique to the teacher’s teaching techniques as well as to the students' needs. Activities are discovery-based through student participation in both large and small-group settings, classroom centers, and rotating learning centers. These developmentally-appropriate activities can also be scaffolded based on students' needs. Because we are part of Veritas Academy, students will also get additional enrichment with visits from our K-12 students and teachers from time to time to help enhance their learning experience! All themes are taught using Biblical principles as the basis for each unit.

Veritas Preschool integrates a thematic concept into all academic areas while incorporating a wide variety of engaging and hands-on learning experiences. We use themes to focus on the emergent interests of the children while keeping learning interesting and exciting as children explore using their five senses. Student/teacher interests will allow flexibility of the learning themes, as long as the math, literacy, and Bible curriculum are met. Each classroom’s instruction is unique to the teacher’s established teaching techniques as well as to the student’s needs. Planned activities are developmentally appropriate and are able to be scaffold based on the students needs. Activities are also discovery-based through student participation in both large and small-group settings, classroom centers, and rotating learning centers. All themes will be taught using Biblical principles as the basis for each unit.
The Veritas Preschool at Highland opened in September of 2014. The preschool program is for 3 and 4 year olds and the prekindergarten is for 4 and 5 year olds. The preschool focuses on basic skills and social/emotional development. The prekindergarten focuses on academic and social preparation for Kindergarten - and for life! In all classes, our overarching focus is developing a love for God and His Word in these precious little ones. The preschool is located at Highland Presbyterian Church, 500 East Roseville Road, Lancaster, PA 17601, just off the Oregon Pike.

As we were considering starting a preschool, we recognized that many families desired and needed a preschool that helps children prepare for success at school. During that process, God opened a door to unite Veritas Academy with Highland Presbyterian Church, a church that started one of the first preschools in Lancaster County (over fifty years ago). We are grateful and blessed that Veritas Preschool at Highland now carries on the great preschool tradition of Highland Presbyterian Church.
Parents may submit new student applications beginning on January 15. Current preschool families re-enroll during the month of February. New students may begin enrolling on March 1. Click here to apply online.
